Night of the Museums will be held in Tampere on Saturday, May 16

27.4.2026 Night of the Museums event is taking over Tampere once again, offering plenty to see and experience on Saturday, May 16, 2026. With an event wristband, you can visit 25 venues, see over 100 program items, watch spectacular performances, and participate in workshops. The program runs from 6 p.m. until midnight, and you can travel between venues on Night of the Museums buses.

At the same time, in Tampere, the Museum Centre Vapriikki will be swept up in the heart of the football fever: a new exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the most legendary moments and stories of the World Cup.

A remarkable discovery was made during scientific research of Karin Månsdotter’s grave

9.3.2026 The grave of Queen Karin Månsdotter (1550–1612) of Sweden is currently under scientific investigation at Turku Cathedral. The research is part of an exhibition project carried out by the Museum Centre Vapriikki, and it aims to generate new knowledge about the life of Karin and her family using modern scientific methods. The exhibition is scheduled to open in 2028.

Tampere museums announce their programme for 2026

6.11.2025 On Tuesday 4.11., Tampere Museums published the 2026 exhibition programme at Museum Milavida. The diverse exhibition year will bring the football World Cup to Tampere, spotlight men's fashion and present both classics and new names in art.

On its 15th year the Night of the Museums once again celebrates spring in the city of Tampere! On a May evening you have the opportunity to explore 16 different places and venues and their programme until late at night. In recent years there have been approximately 10 000 museum visits during this one evening.

11.9.2023 The decisive battles of the Finnish Civil War took place in Tampere in the spring of 1918. For 15 years, visitors could explore the war and these battles in a popular exhibition at the Museum Centre Vapriikki. The exhibition has now closed, but the topic continues as a web page. Innovative virtual content provides historical information in an immersive manner.
