Why and how do young people engage with digital games? How do they communicate and create groups of belonging in games?
Please join us for the book launch event of ”Learning and Identity in Competitive Gaming – An Empirical and Methodological Discussion” by Matilda Ståhl and Fredrik Rusk where we dive deep into these topics. The book is open access, which means it is freely accessible to anyone who is interested.
In this talk, we present insights into young people’s learning and identity processes in competitive gaming contexts. These findings are based on material done in collaboration with Finnish young people as they were playing CS:GO (Counter Strike: Global Offensive), a game series which remains popular in Finland as well as elsewhere. This event is open to anyone who is interested in getting a deeper understanding of young peoples’ gaming, but we see that it might be particularly interesting for teachers, parents, youth workers, researchers and other actors that work with youth or otherwise engage with youth regularly.
